Since 1998, the Tanzania Private Sector Federation has served as the apex body of the private sector — building bridges between business and government, and creating the conditions for enterprise to flourish.
The Tanzania Private Sector Federation (TPSF) was established in 1998 as the umbrella body for the private sector in Tanzania. We bring together business membership organisations, trade associations, chambers of commerce, and corporate entities under one coordinated voice.
Our mandate is to foster a competitive, transparent, and inclusive business environment where Tanzania's private sector can grow, innovate, and contribute meaningfully to the national economy. We do this through advocacy, research, capacity building, and dialogue with government and development partners.
TPSF is a politically neutral and private-sector-led institution governed by a Board of Trustees drawn from leading private sector organisations across Tanzania.
To promote a competitive and enabling business environment by advocating for sound policies, facilitating private sector growth, and strengthening the capacity of businesses and their associations in Tanzania.
A dynamic, inclusive and globally competitive private sector that drives sustainable economic development and improves the livelihoods of all Tanzanians.
Integrity, inclusiveness, transparency, accountability, and professionalism guide everything we do — in our advocacy, our partnerships, and our service to members.
TPSF established as the umbrella body for Tanzania's organised private sector, with a mandate to advocate for a better business climate and strengthen public-private dialogue.
TPSF co-founded the National Business Council (NBC), the premier platform for structured dialogue between the President of Tanzania and the private sector.
Expanded presence to Zanzibar and major mainland regions, deepening our engagement with SMEs, cooperatives and sectoral associations beyond Dar es Salaam.
TPSF moved to Private Sector House on Mwaya Road, Msasani Peninsula — a dedicated home for Tanzania's organised business community.
TPSF represents over 400 member organisations covering more than 6 million businesses across Tanzania, and remains the primary interlocutor between the private sector and government.
TPSF is governed by a Board of Trustees composed of senior leaders from across Tanzania's major private sector associations. Day-to-day operations are managed by an experienced executive team.
